RAW vs. JPEG

  1. A RAW file contains all the uncompressed and unprocessed image data captured of a digital camera or scanner. The image quality for RAW are high quality, but are significantly bigger than JPEG image file formats.
  2. A JPEG file (Joint Photographic Experts Group) file is a lossy raster file format that compresses an image to make the file smaller. JPEG’s are the most popular and widely used image formats in the world.
  3. The differences of JPEG and RAW files are the image quality and the file sizes, RAW files are much larger than JPEG files this is because RAW files are much higher quality than JPEG files
